CEO Kim Kyung-bae wins Silver Tower Order of Indus

CEO Kim Kyung-bae received the Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit at a ceremony to celebrate the 51st Trade Day on Dec. 5. Since taking office as Hyundai Glovis CEO in 2009, Kim has been recognized for actively leading the shipping business and activating global exports of domestic auto parts. Hyundai Glovis exports some 17,000 auto parts manufactured by about 500 Korean auto parts makers to the U.S., China, Brazil and Russia, contributing to strengthening national competitiveness. Thanks to its aggressive export promotion strategy, it achieved a total of over $10 billion (about 12 trillion won) in exports over the last five years from 2009 to 2013. It also won the $800 million the “Tower of Exports” award in 2007. Since his inauguration, the company has won the Tower of Exports for the four consecutive years with $1 billion in 2010, $2 billion in 2011, $3 billion in 2012 and $4 billion in 2013. CEO Kim was aggressive in strengthening shipping and third-party logistics businesses, while taking an initiative in developing relevant in-dustries by pushing for consistent growth of the trading business carrying out the intermediate trade among three countries. Also he took the lead in the global business by expanding logistics and distribution footholds to such newly emerging markets as Brazil, Mexico and Canada. Recently, he is making a strong push for business expansion at home and abroad by handling the M&A business for local logistics companies in Europe. The Trade Day event, organized by Korea International Trade Association and supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, is designed to select and encourage enterprises, which expanded exports and actively explored overseas markets, and relevant businessmen.
